Once you’ve completed registration (if you havent done it yet, check the guide how to become a new user) you might have some questions concercing how to to add to a game, what tools are needed, why are people talking about xp, etc...

We tried to summarize a few points you should know/read when you're new!

DP-Rules

• DP-Standard Rules
• Some of those rules are changed when you play in xp

Some more (or less) important facts

• Talk English! Ingame, in Lobby, on IRC, everywhere! You can get time-banned for talking non-english
• All games are hosted on DP-Hostbots (Check Out: "Tools and useful Links" for detailed information)
• Some Commands you can use in Lobby/Ingame:
  
  • "!statsdota xxx" will show you some stats (Like Kills, Death, Assists, Creep Kills, etc) Those stats are binded to your bnet Nick
  • ".cl" will check the list for missing/joined players from your game. Missing players will be marked with a questionmark
  • "!checkme" will show you your current ping
  • "/sc" will spoofcheck you with our bots (required to be able to set latency ingame! Only as Host!)
  • "!latency XXX" will set latency for everyone (50 usually nice, 100 is default)
• We are very strict on manners!
• There is no skill requirement in euro games. Worst case, you end up with 4 admins against 5 "pro" gamers! Enjoy it!
• If you get banned you can make an unbanrequest here
• Important: Always follow the Sticky (Un-/Ban, Xp Appy/Removal Section)!

Bot Commands

• For Euro

So many colors when you join the #euro channel...

• Green: Trusted Voucher
• Red: Trusted Player
• Pink (): Admin
• Blue: HeadAdmin
• White/Black: MovieMaker
• Grey: Addicted Player (more than 5.000 games played)
• Purple: Early XP - Applicant

Euro Games

• Games in dotapickup.euro are for everyone, no matter the skill level
• If you wanna play on a more serious level you should apply for xp
• You can link/add with up to 4 others (5 in total) - More in bot-commands for Euro
• Game Modes:
  
  • Default: -SD
  • Currently you can vote for: -AR and -RD when you add up (Check: BOTCOMMANDS)

XP Games

• Once you played 25 games you can apply for access to #dotapickup.xp here
• Atm you can apply for access to #dotapickup.xp after successfull registration (you've been accepted), read more here
• Once you played 500 games you'll get auto access to #dotapickup.xp
• You will lose/gain XP-Points based on the teams XP
• You can add or challenge someone and pick your whole team
• Players added "bold" to topic: "Cap-Yes"
• Game Modes:
  
  • Add1/A: -CD, Captains will be chosen by most cap-vote (!cap-yes, cap-maybe, cap-no) and by most xp
  • Add2/ACM: -CM, Captains will be chosen by most cap-vote (!cap-yes, cap-maybe, cap-no) and by most xp
  • Add1/AARDM: -ARDM, Captains will be chosen by most cap-vote (!cap-yes, cap-maybe, cap-no) and by most xp
  • Challenge: -CD
  • Challenge: -CM

Useful Tools and Links

• Gproxy *highly recommended*
  
  • A tool to rejoin the current game when you loose your internet connection temporarly (180seconds)
  • Furthermore it will detect hosted dp-games automaticly and allow you to join via lan games
• Upload a replay
• Register/Host a game
• Enable Highlight in IRC
• Banrequests section
  
  • If you see a player breaking the rules or leaving a game, you have the right to banrequest him for his actions. For most standard bans the system used on IRC is greatly preferred, the forum can be used to make banrequests that require more information, or to sum up multiple actions by the player. For more info on how to use correct evidence, consult the rules page.
• Unbanrequests section
  
  • If you at any time get banned for disconnecting from a game or breaking a rule, this is the place to create a thread and present your case to request an unban. If we see you put effort into proving your disconnect was not intended, we will look at the situation and act accordingly, it's important to remember to always take the most evidence to support your unbanrequest, like a screenshot of your disconnect message. This allows us to see you did not simply quit the game. If you wish to notify admins of the new thread on the forums you are allowed to post the link of your thread on #dotapickup.help, but DO NOT query admins for it as it is likely to not help in any way towards a quicker unban.
• Making suggestions to DotaPickup
  
  • We always want to evolve in DotaPickup and one way to do that is by listening to the community. If you have a nice idea or suggestion on what things can be improved around here, post your idea for others to read and perhaps agree with and maybe some day you will see your idea put together by the team behind DotaPickup.
• Hero & Gameplay Guides
  
  • If you are unsure how a hero is played or how you should build a hero to function properly you can look through some guides posted by members sharing their views, the Gold Guide section offers quality guides with a nice presentation and explenation of everything.
