GETTING YOUR QAUTH CHANGED AFTER LOSING YOUR OLD ONE

First off, in case you are a very old user who has not played at DotaPickup in a long time, I suggest you also read the Startersguide to see all the changes and new things to be done.

It is important however to not follow the exact same steps as presented there. Read below to see the differences

Follow steps 0 and 1 in the Startersguide, create your new Qauth and join the channel without any hostname masking tools.
Because you are an old user and not a new user, you should not create another forum account (if you still have your old forum account). If you have also lost your old forum account, try to retrieve it. Finally, if you cannot retrieve it, you can go ahead and make a new forum account anyway (this is however, the least wanted outcome, so try to get your old one)

    • If you need to make a new forum account:
      • You can follow the exact same steps as the New user guide, except for the syntax of your request thread (read "Making an Old User Request Thread" below)
    • If you still have your old forum account:

ONLY FOR OLD USERS WHO STILL HAVE THEIR FORUM ACCOUNT:
      • IMPORTANT:Make sure you do NOT generate your DPAuthkey on the forum, doing so will link your forum account to your old QAuth and you do NOT want this to happen!! CHECK your profile and see which auth it has, and then compare it to the auth you use. If they don't match = your forum account is NOT ready to validate
      • Do NOT attempt to validate your account as long as your forum account still has the old Qauth attached to it. You cannot change Qauth yourself so don't look for a way to. After you have made your old user request thread, go to #dotapickup.help and ask an admin to change it for you. When you query an admin, tell him you were asked to do this and give him the URL of your thread. He will then be able to change the Qauth in your profile account, after which you can proceed.
      • Go to your profile (make sure an admin has changed your Qauth to the new one you wish to use from now on) and generate your DPAuthkey. You will receive a set of letters and digits which you can use to validate your account (like it says in the startersguide). When you have validated your account you are ready and only have to wait for an admin to handle your reacception.
