hi cip,
i thought of the !UP and !DOWN system for all players in XP.
It is possible or to much performance and stuff is needed?
If the system works for all, there is no need for surveillance section anymore, or atleast its much easier.
If a player got to many !DOWNs (and maybe low XP, i think there is a littel relation between XP/skill) its time for a surveillance.)

Not rated players counts as positive.

If some1 got to many !DOWNs there should be opened a table or smth like that, where all XP-players can see the ratings and its enough, surv or removal

1. spam in channel (10 players rating every player (9) = 90 commands, lets say half the ppl do it, still so much spam)
2. ragerates, theres no objectivity basis anymore, if a player is under surveillance, then WE understood he needs to shape up cus we saw some evidence, rates are opinions, sometimes wrong ones. and if every rate had evidence, there would simple be too little time to watch it.
3. we have smt called "political friends" word in belgium, it follows the "i scratch your back you scratch mine" way of thinking. hey i know i dindt play that imba, but if u uprate me, i will uprate u ! same goes other way around, omg he downrated me??? i downrate him !!!!

in theory its a good idea but its so easily abused that the rates would not give a clear image of the situation

yeah, about point 3 i thought, too.
maybe there is only a channel about rating, where no1 can see what others write. less spam in main-xp channel and there is no hate downrating or love-uprating.
but it sounds u are right, a lot of work and stuff needed

make the command only useable by the captain of the team.

solves all the problems mentioned by foadon except possibly the friends bit which is really unavoidable.

there u get only the opinion from cpt. and afaik captains can fail, too and they would never !DOWN himself.

maybe valid system, 1 player does !DOWN nick reason, X players need to !AGREE nick (like !XPVALID)

only a !DOWN with "agree" counts

that should avoid the friend-rating, but does a lot of traffic

I guess cip will agree with that since he had to refuse up\down system amoung members at 1337 channel

Allowing everyone to rate everyone ends up in total failure. On 1337, each time someone was angry on someone they updated rate with negative. With stupid reasons ofc. Same with friends. All rated every other friend. After a while I turned off internal ratings. It's just stupid and irrelevant.

Now ratings are targeted at a certain player and surveillance. In database rates are stored related to surveillance id + player id. So technically, a players ratings are interesting only under that particular surveillance. In time if he gets too many surveillances or negetive rates in all... he will be removed.

Allowing rate on each other... well.. after all games, loosers will down rate their team mates. And winners usually up rate themselfs. Both with stupid reasons of rage or joy. Not gonna happen.

arent so many TP/captains/admins playing on xp to rate one guy whos under surv for ex. 10 games.
and hes able to dodge em.

If a person is really bad in a game I'm certain it will be brought up to discussion either in the chan or in the forums.
In that way we (admins) get the information needed by users as always.
My comment was just about the current rate system in chan, nothing else.
