Finally someone brought up this idea. Thanks bahaya <3 (no homo)
I was just thinking on how to make "bans" less time consuming. We all know how long picks atm. I don't like to wait 30 min for picks then in 20 min someone drops.... gg 1h from my life useless. Also i don't like -cm for same reasons as Bahaya stated.
So to speed this up.. maybe we do this (for now, for testing)
- we keep !add static bans (maybe we change banned heroes)
- we make !add2 4 bans made by first 2 players in teams - If sent picks first, scourge captain bans first, then sent capt bans second, then scourge SECOND player bans 3rd then sent SECOND player bans 4th. Then sent picks... etc
- we make !add3 2 bans made by captains only - who doesn't pick, bans.
Bans should not last longer then 1 min/ban and must be on ALL chat.
Happy?
The team with first pick should ban first. Picking first is an advantage (usually, in rd at least) and banning last is another advantage. the same team shouldnt have them both.
For example, lets say there are tide and ES in pool (1 ban per team left). Both teams want one of them. Sentinel is first pick and scourge bans ES, sentinel bans random hero x and gets tide -> imba. If scourge chooses to ban random hero x, sentinel bans either es or tide and pick the other -> imba. Sentinel can just make the hero pool favorable for themselves before they make their pick.
If sentinel had to ban first and they ban es, scourge can ban tide -> nobody gets either. if sentinel bans random hero x, scourge can also ban another random hero x and still get one of them -> both get one of them. Also, in -cm first pick also bans first so there's another argument. (The actual heroes can be different from these but you should get the idea).
And about this banning consuming a lot of time... I've played a lot of games with this exact ruling on other channels and trust me, 80% of the time you just skim through the pool and check if there is something like spectre/riki/omni/admiral/es/tide and ban that hero. Sometimes you may want to ban meepo/naix/tb/na or something else if you feel it makes the pool rigged.
And imo 1 ban per team is enough for now. Maybe it's still slightly imbalanced but -rd will probably always be a little no matter how sophisticated rules we make. Imo 2 bans in add2 and 2 or possibly 4 bans in add3 would be better.
