i truly hate rd games. everyone picks his fav hero. no matter if the team works out , or if the enemy has a perfect counterhero...

Just some thought... i really like ar or sd games. you get a nice hero. no imba combinations most of the times. and from my point of view all sdxp games i played were close and awesome.

sadly, we played 2 xprd games and it really sucked. no combinations, weird hero picks. no overall strategy...

i just thought, why dont pause 5 minutes and the team discusses picks and strat ? then every1 can pick a hero, stick to the strategy and have a nice time... maybe xp games should have a higher quality.

In my opinion. If you play -RD there will be better picks then SD. In RD u got rounds of picking = more time to pick and discuss and it gets better teampicks, in SD, every1 pick at the same time and it's only 1:30 until creeps spawn. I guess its up to every game to take a pause and discuss heroes.

Myself I like RD more then SD. More options to make and more quality games

ive played those two games too and cant confirm what u just said. Maybe the picks werent perfect but faaaar away from "everyone picked his fav hero".

and 1 min is enough to discuss those picks.

As an addition my stats consist of ~600 -ar, ~300 -sd and bout 5 -rd games. and although id say rd > sd > ar

Haven't really seen the problem here on xp. Happens a lot on the sprd channel where first pick at times can be some stupid agi hero.

But I doubt anyone minds if you just pause the game for a sec and mention it is for picking. It is the XP channel after all, and not the euro.

TBH, your team should be discussing lineups omokk. That's the fun part, settting up combos and strategies. If you arn't doing this that's your teams fault. In XP I feel that you are allowed to demand more of your team than in normal pickup games. Noone wants a bad rep in XP I think so ppl will hopefully do their best. If for some reason I find that someone does a "bad" pick I let them hear it. And if for some reason they underperform because of their hero choice I let them know it.

I've played lots of RD games and only once did someone pick a hero the team didn't agre with=) MATHIAS OMFG WHY PICK TROLL?????!!!!?!?!?! =)

-rd should be more balanced than -sd, it has always been about balancing heroes and team picks, so you can counterpick the other team.

rd is totaly the most awsome mode u can play, i like it better then sd. sprd would be insanely fun aswell. :P

It's not like everyone doesnt pick his fav hero at sd mode... (don't blame the car if you don't know how to drive).

Edit: I see worse lineups at euro than at sprd. And .xp players should know to pick the right hero, no pause needed. We should implement some other punishments in xp, like being tagged "NOOB", if you pick sniper while they are already 2 other carries in the team.

Sd is moar random than rd, and when there is randomness like sd includes, there will be 
imbalanced picks. In rd everyone picks from the same pool.

While I did not play many rd games in .xp (less than 10), I do not see a problem with the picks there. The way of drafting often leads to "weird" teams, but if your enemy firstpicks magnus you need to pick ES if he is in the pool (for example).

However, if in doubt I would allways take a hero I know I am good with over a hero I am only decent with. DotA is a game and therefore is meant to be fun, I wont let anyone force me to play a hero I dont like at all. Thats what I like about -sd, if you dont instapick your stuck with 3 agi and 1 int (3-4 melees) and you are asked to pick "strength disable ranged pls". Anyway, back to topic, there are stupid (first) picks in -rd but I think it is at least decent in .xp Just remember you are not playing a CW, timing wont be even near perfect. Heroes can decide a game but if you know you suck with a hero, dont pick him.

If you got firstpick and there are heroes you really need but you don't want to play them, you could also ask if someone else wants to play him, and you'll swap. Silly fucking the team over, just cause you demand to play hero X. If it is like that, I suppose we could just go back to euro channel instead.

Imo rd is the best mode for a serious non-cw dota-match with experienced players because its much harder to get hero-pick-wins with rd then it is with sd. As we are playing in .xp players should be able to pick heroes to counter the enemy one's what makes the game much more even resulting in more fun for both(!) sides.
